the gold one will probably do things that are not allowed here so be carefull what you use

Gold doesn't include any hacks if that's what you're getting at.  Both have features that are more than just "/stick and map."

they are just remembered my first days with mq2.
I did not even know straight away how to disable certain plugins.
So this was only posted to those that were in the same situation as me in the beginning.

Take time to learn mq2 a bit and once allowed plugins are only active enjoy it.

Hi MQ2-users,

I tried to follow the follow the guide of 'Youthdragon', but it doesn't work.

1/ Does the line "3,1,TFFFC, Global_chr,Loading characters' should be deleted" OR be replaced by ""3,1,TFFFC, Global_chr,Loading" ?  Anyway, my char has still weapons in his hands...

2/  Do I still to start up EQ2 for each char apart or does MQ2 show all chars on the same screen ? (That's the meaning of this software I think ?)

3/ In what order the programs should be started ?  First MQ2 or first all chars with different logins ?
When I start a char and I zone in, another small screen pops up named 'MQ2' and says :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Welcome to MQ2qbc, Boem: Use :bccmd help to see help.
# Connecting to 127.0.0.1 2112...
# Could not connect.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What went wrong here ?
Also, the the program there are 2 exe-files : Macroquest2.exe and EQBCServer.exe : DO I START THEM BOTH ?  And if I do, in what order ?

A lot of quentions here, but can somebody help me out ?  Should be nice  Grin
For your info : I use SOD on a laptop Intelcore i5 Windows 7 ATIgrahpics 1GB - 4GB RAM

1) Leave that Line there
2) You have to start up each EQ instance separately, MQ only allows you to channel commands from one screen to another.
3) You need to start up the EQBCServer.exe that's why you are getting that message, you really only need to do this if you are boxing and have more than one character running that you want to control using MQ2. If you are only running 1 or enjoy switching between the screens just ignore that message.

Hi,

I started both chars and started MQ2 as EQBCServer as well.  In the MQ2-windowbox I see now that I'm connected and joined the server. Also 'LOCAL ECHO : ON'  and shows also that my second char has been loaded (are both in group)

On my desktop of my computer I see also a dosbox (EQBCS = EQ BOX CHAT SERVER 1.2.V1) with following info :
'waiting for connections on port: 2122...
'--Client connection : fd 128'
'--Alrazor had joined the server'      = my first char
'--Client connection : fd 132'
'--Boem has joined the server'         = my second char

So, I presume that MQ2 should be working, but I'm not able to use both chars on one of both screens.  I'm missing something here ?

If you want to play both characters on one screen w/o setting up macros I suggest going to Lavish Software and paying a subscription there, they have some boxing software that sounds like it is what you want. Otherwise you are going to learn how to set up Macro's using MQ I can give you a few websites to get started, but ultimately you will need to do a bit of searching to either find out or create what you need to set up to do what you want.(If that makes any sense)

An example of a macro from would be this: You are playing Character one War and want to tell your second character Mage to send their pet in and cast Firebolt so first you would go into the folder you have MQ installed in and create a Macros folder and then in a plain text pad enter

Code:
Sub Main
/bct Mage //assist War
/delay 1s
/bct Mage //pet attack
/delay 1s
/bct Mage //casting "Firebolt" gem1 -maxtries|3

/return

Now that it is written you would save it by going to Save As- then All types and writing Firebolt.mac. Then in game while playing War you would type /mac Firebolt and here's what would happen.

Line 1 - his command is a targeted command using the EQBCS which tells a certain toon to do an action (Alternatives are /bca (Everyone but me) and /bcaa (Everyone Including me) In this case it tells Mage to assist War and thus gain his/her target.

Line 2 - Is a delay and the macro will wait 1 second before moving on

Line 3- Again this sends the Mage a command using the EQBCS chatbox telling him/her to send their pet against the target.

Line 4 - Is a delay and the macro will wait 1 second before moving on

Line 5 - Tells Mage to start to cast their Firebolt spell which is in Gem1 with a max retry of 3.This means the macro will attempt to cast the spell 3 times (so if it Fizzles or gets Resisted it will be re casted. If it succeeds on the first try it will only cast once). If the spell is not memorized then it will memorize it in Gem 1 before casting.

Line 6 - /return Ends the macro.

Here's a post from a player on the Stormhaven server going over some basic things.
http://dragonscaleguild.forumotion.com/t23-macroquest2-what-can-it-do-for-you

And here's a post on the MQEmulator forums (which I suggest reading through to see if you can find more info)
http://mqemulator.net/forum2/viewtopic.php?t=588

I can also answer some questions if you PM me or find me in game on Blame or Uvorc I'm still relatively new to it myself, but I learned everything from reading those two sites and trial and failure. It can be a very powerful tool if used correctly, but if you are looking for a quicker set up then look at the Lavishsoft website. Find the ISBoxer

I know your looking for free, but I got what your trying to do up and running in about 15 minutes with IsBoxer. Might be worth a trial look...

Hi DRG,

Thanks for all that readingstuff !  Seems be interesting and complete, in particular that link to Stormheaven.  I'll try out that marco-thing  Grin
It's only a bit of shame that you have to take down graphics to zero to make MQ2 working...  but yeah you can't have it all in life, isn't it  Cheesy

bye and thanks a lot !!

Hah it works without taking down the graphics, I think that was just a suggestion. I personally box with my graphics turned up all the way for all 3 instances for EQ, but then I have the background windows set to 0 processing (as long as they are in the background). No issues to report.

Well on the Stormhaven server I run a SK/SHM/MNK setup, right now though I'm working on a SK/PAL/BER setup for this server. Depends on preference honestly. MQ2 works well as long as you aren't constantly having to do something with that character (unless you feel like really coding it up).
