Is there any particular reason that Clerics cannot use "Masters Ring" from the Casters Guild vendor?

Kinda lame that a Bard can before a cleric...

IIRC it was just for classes with pets originally. Bard's got added when Charm was removed.

I guess I should say "permanent" pets then. I didnt make it in either case so I'm not the authority just voicing what I think was the reasoning.

Just saying, would be nice for a Cleric to have the ring pet, for those who actually play clerics, not box them.

Clerics used to be on the ring. They were removed because it made them too powerful. Granted now there are things that would wipe out the ring pet in one shot it still would make the cleric more powerful than other classes that are pet dominant. Kinda like blending roles too much.

I'd count CLR with their hammers way more pet-oriented than druids with their cosmetics bears. Srsly those cubs are like lvl5 or something.

How would be it any more powerful than a druid having the pet?  In fact, with druids DS, Pet buff, Epic regen, regular regen ontop of their insane DOTs and good DD spells, a cleric with a pet wouldn't even come close.

Kind of like a bard getting a pet...

The bard thing has already been answered. They get it because they get charm and charm was removed. Clr is more powerful than druid with it because of the heal.

Sorry Xigs, but it really hard to argue that point since druids get heals, insane regen, DS AND can output hefty damage themselves.   But arguing it is moot.

How many druids do you see end game? How many clerics do you see end game? Druids are not no where near as powered as clerics are in the healing dept. Regen and ds don't count when the pet is down. As far as the dots and dd's that druids get... umm, no, they are not decent dps at all.

I was going to post basically the same thing.  I have a Druid he has a nice 10k regen with Oracle 20 but other than that has little use. His DPS is garbage and his direct heals even with an Oracle 20 are pretty crappy compared to my Cleric with Oracle 4. Further he has no group heals. Druid's were intended to have some decent DPS capability. Clerics were not.
