I realize I don't necessarily owe it to anyone other than maybe Akkadius as to why I've been so hit or miss lately, but this community has been a home for me for over a decade now. While a player's absence may not be detrimental to the server as a whole, in my position it can be more evident as bugs go unfixed for an unacceptable length of time. So I just felt I should offer a brief explanation to this community who has been generous to me both as a player and as a GM/Developer.
As some are aware, I am one of the owners of a Harley-Davidson dealership in California, which does keep me busy, but it's not the main source of my absence lately. Towards the end of May, one of our technicians crashed during a test ride and did not survive. I should say that while I am officially a 'Dealership Manager' by title, my main day to day job is as a technician (it's the best job in the place), so losing someone who you see more than your family was a tough one. We hosted his celebration of life, which included preparing a slideshow and speech I gave, as well as the organization of a ride and military honors for his family (he was a retired US Marine).
Shortly after that, my Dad, who had a variety of health issues (bad back, bad knees, crippling low pressure headaches, along with some early dementia) was not sleeping well one night, and by the morning was breathing erratically. We had him ambulanced to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a bloodborne staph infection. He was admitted with a 215/120 blood pressure and a temperature of 108, and while they tried everything we think they could have, he succumbed to the infection one day later.
In the background of all of this, my Mom had a single lung transplant on December 29th, and has been going through the ups and downs of the testing, medication and frequent doctor visits that accompany a transplant. She recently found out that she is showing signs of rejecting the lung, which would unfortunately be fatal for her, as a 2nd transplant is not available to her, and her one remaining bad lung would last for less time than it took you to read this far. So far treatment is working well, so this is less of an immediate problem than it was.
Ultimately, I don't say all this as a blanket excuse for not taking care of EZ in the way it should be, but it's unfortunately just been solidly back burnered for me. I do plan to get some fixes out this weekend, specifically for the EoMA and EoBA, and anything else that needs attention. I appreciate everyone's understanding and well wishes in advance, and I will get back to my normal attention to EZ soon.

Now that I can type properly again... here are my thoughts!
• Do you find the background lore, NPC emotes, quest background stories etc. engaging or entertaining, or don't really care much either way?
I enjoyed the way you brought the lore together in the zones. Would be cool to see you bring the same type of lore or even new gods into the lore of EZ!
I'd love another side fight like how Tunare was setup.. maybe with a different god.
• Is there any mechanic that we've used previously that you would, or would not like to see repeated?
Tunare style fight was great, maybe with new spells / mechanics. A mechanic I'd love to see is adding a reason for healers to "cure".. make a debuff that can only be cured by a new line of spells that only healer classes get. Not a fan of huge AOE dots that hit all characters ect that you just heal through.
One nasty debuff that needs to be cured or you spawn something bad ect.. or if the full duration goes it AOEs around them ect. (a lot of this SPA exist and would be awesome on EZ!) Preferably not spammed to overwhelm someone with only 1 or 2 healer types though.. but maybe scales with the number of characters fighting?
In short.. I loved Tunare and it was a very cool idea and I'd love to see it expanded upon as another side boss with a cooldown to kill!
• Feelings on bane weapons?
HATE the idea of Bane weapons HATE HATE HATE.. however!!! We have useless aug slots of the Ultimate weapon.. maybe change the ultimate click augment slot to a "Bane slot". Have an augment we need to farm in a zone to add bane damage to a weapon. Could maybe even script the boss to be immune to magic unless the caster has a bane augment in their weapon.
• Aside from the content, what would you like to see 'fixed' as part of this Tier? Example I've heard: Item effects are not very useful/being re-used. But it's open ended, whatever you'd like to see done better in some way, or fixed.
Ultimate click augment slot from above.. would love it changed to something useful or unique like the bane augment idea! Or have it as a multi-purpose slot.. can fit bane augs or something new.
Add click nukes to older tier ranged items for casters so they work their way up to the newer ones. (VP click / Halloween) These items really make a caster shine from their instant damage. Casters feel janky till they get one of these items. Dont really know what section to put this in.. but feels off for casters.
• Since this post will probably get people's attention, is there anything currently broken or janky that you feel needs to be addressed? (completely separate from the Tier).
Pet bag seems janky to have to put an item into it before zoning, would be nice to have item on cursor and do like a #setpetweapon1 ect and it saves a variable to data bucket so you don't have to keep placing items in it.
Spell descriptions to show the proper info.. this is way down on the list of priority because MQ shows what they do. But would be nice to match the spellfile to the dbstr_us file so new spells show the correct info.

I had some people ask for links to the UI that I'm using. If you're running a "modern" version of MQ ("MQNext"), then you can use /lua scripts to enhance some of your visuals! For peer/bot management, I use https://github.com/andude2/EZBots, which is a lua script that you'll need to run on all your toons. This wil give you a nice visual of all your characters, and is customizable for your tastes/preferences. For hotbuttons, I use https://github.com/DerpleMQ2/buttonmaster, which lets you build basically an infinite number of hot buttons, that you can customize as much as you want. For example, you can have 1 hotbutton that will either mount, or dismount, depending on the context. (If you're mounted, it dismounts, if you're not mounted, it mounts!) For Buffs, I use https://github.com/brainiac/Alphabuff, which gives you a nice sortable list of buffs! For inventory management, https://github.com/andude2/EZInventory. which takes a moment to load up, but once running you'll never notice in the background. It'll run on all peers, and you can see/track their inventory accordingly. |
